RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the issuance of the following business licenses to Rancho La Costa, Inc.:
1. Davis Cup matches - March 5, 6, and 7, 1982. License fee - $300.
2. Tournament of Champions - April 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, 1982. License fee - $450.
Subject to the following conditions:

1. The above mentioned fees shall be paid to the City of Carlsbad,
2. Proof of insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 (in a form acceptable to the
City's Risk Manager) shall be provided, with the City as a named insured,
3. That Rancho La Costa, Inc. meet all conditions that maybe required by the
Carlsbad Chief of Police, with regard to public safety and welfare.
ITEM DISCUSSION
The Carlsbad Municipal Code section 5.08.060 requires that the city council approve
the issuance of any license for a sporting event held within the city limits.
Rancho La Costa, Inc. will be sponsoring the above mentioned events during the months
of March and April, 1982. The Police Dept. will require that Rancho La Costa, Inc.
meet various conditions for public safety and welfare prior to approving final
license issuance.
FISCAL IMPACT
The license fees from these special events will amount to about $750. In addition,
the City will bill Rancho La Costa, Inc. for any special police duty or other city
services provided as a direct result of these events. The cost of these services
is not known at this time.
