=%!-- RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.&f/ 9 approving plans and specifications and authorize
the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the Sunnyhill Drive Storm Drain.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The project consists of an 18-inch storm drain which will relieve flooding
on the intersection of Sunnyhill Drive and Alder Avenue.
Environmental and coastal clearances have been obtained.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The engineer's estimate for this project is $20,940, which will be financed
from the remaining $151,900 fund in continuing appropriation for miscella-
neous drainages. Funds in this amount were budgeted in account number
04-170-3100.

RESOLUTION NO. 6819 .
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING 'PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHOR-
IZING THE CITY CLERK TO INVITE BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
THE SUNNYHILL DRIVE STORM DRAIN CONTR ACT. NO. 1116.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has
determined it is necessary and in the public interest to
construct the Sunnyhill Drive Storm Drain, and;
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the furnishing of all
labor, materials, tools, equipment, transpoitation and other
expenses necessary or incidental for said project, Contract No.
1116 have been prepared and are on file in the Engineering
Department and are incorporated by reference herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby
authorized and directed to proceed to publish, in accordance
with law, notice to contractors inviting bids for the
construction of the Sunnyhill Drive Storm Drain, Contract No.
1116 in accordance with the plans and specifications referred
to.

SUBJECT: STATUS OF SEWER CAPACITY
As requested by the City Council, an update on the status of our sewer capacity is provided.
As of March 31, 1982, the City has a total of 3,050.76 equivalent dwelling units (EDUS) of unused sewer capacity of which 1,609.43 EDUs have been reserved. As a reminder, an EDU is equivalent to 246 gallons of sewer capacity which is what one residential home requires. For the Grove litigation, the City has set aside 1,070.03 EDUs. There are 462 EDUs to projects in the Lake Calavera
Hills area. From the Second Phase Sewer Allocation System, there are 77.4 EDUs that were allocated but have not been purchased. Processing of required discretionary permits for these projects is being accompl ished.
After the last rerating of the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility (EWPCF) , 1800 EDUs were made available for issue on a first-come, first-served basis. in this category from which the City Engineer can assign. are presently 896.38 EDUs which have not been assigned, reserved, or allocated and are available for issue at the City Council's discretion.
