1' I RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. 3/qf restricting parking on the
west side of El Camino Real from Tamarack Avenue to 160
feet north of Tamarack Avenue.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At their March 1, 1982 meeting, the Traffic Safety Commis-
sion reviewed a request from Mr. John Hollorow of 4648
Coralwood Court in Carlsbad to restrict parking on the
west side of El Carnino Real north of Tamarack Avenue.
Trucks have been parking on this portion of El Camino
Real thereby causing a restriction of sight distance for
school children crossing El Carnino Real. A previous ordi-
nance restricted the westerly side south of Tamarack, how-
ever the Traffic Safety Commission requested extending it
160 feet northerly of Tamarack.
The Commission felt 160 feet of red curb north of Tamarack
Avenue would solve the sight distance problem. The Commis-
sion felt an alternate proposal to remove all parking
along El Camino Real was too restrictive.
I FISCAL IMPACT:
Painting 160 feet of red curb will cost approximately $100.
I EXHIBITS:

ORDINANCE NO. 3148'
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.40.047 OF THE CARLSEAD MUNICIPAL CODE TO
PROHIBIT PARKING ON EL CAMINO REAL IN THE CITY

The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,
hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.40.047 of the
Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
"10.40.047 Parking restricted on El Camino Real.
Parkinq of vehicles is prohibited during all hours of the day and night on both sides-of El Camino Real. in the City Limits."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective
thirty days after its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify
to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published
at least once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after
its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Carlsbad held the 6th day of
April , 1982, and thereafter
