RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council direct staff to defer from the approved 82-86 C.I.P. list,
until a need is demonstrated, the turf development of Buena Vista
Athletic Field.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Bobby Sox youth organization has decided to postpone their plans to
use the Buena Vista lower athletic field. They thought that the
improvements included not only ballfields and turf, but also a snack
bar, restroom, and athletic lights.
The Parks and Recreation Department programs do not require turf in
the subject field. Therefore, it is recommended that the turf improve-
ments be deferred and that all organizations be required to use the
existing facilities and grounds.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$25,000 was designated from the Park-in-Lieu fees, District 1, to
finance the C.I.P. project. Deletion of this item will result in
a savings of $14,376 (1982 Dollars) for maintenance costs.
