MTG. 5-11—R=82 SOUND SYSTEM FOR COUNCIL CHAMBERS CITY ATTY-_ DEPT. CS CITY MGR. ^' RECOMMENDED ACTION: Appoint a committee consisting of one or two Council Members to review alternative sound systems for the Council Chambers. ITEM EXPLANATION: At its meeting of April 13, 1982, Council approved the allocation of $16,500.00 for a new sound system for the Council Chambers, subject to further review and report. It is not possible to install a variety of different systems for trial due to the complexity of the wiring that must be accomplished. It is also very difficult to explain the varieties of the different systems and their capabilities. Therefore, it is requested that Council appoint either one or two Council Members to represent them in consideration of the matter. Council representatives would be asked to accompany staff to a show room where the various types of equipment are installed and operating. In addition, the variety of microphone types could be reviewed. The resulting recommendation would be returned to Council for consideration along with a report on the status of the City's existing sound system. FISCAL IMPACT: There will be no fiscal impact unless a new sound system is eventually purchased. EXHIBITS: None
