RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 6898, declaring the results of the Election.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Registrar of Voters has canvassed the returns of the General
Municipal Election held on June 8, 1982. The certificate showing
the results of that canvass is attached.
That certificate reflects the following results:
For Mayor:
Jeff Crisman 1,425
Mary Casler 4,688
Hugh Vickery 1,686
William Bonas 1,947
For Council Member:
Richard Chick 2,651
Ralph Barton 2,038
Arthur Kantor 2,015
Hal Zack 2,358
For City Clerk:
Aletha Rautenkranz 7,382
For City Treasurer:
Frank Rice 7,552

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF A -
- GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON
THE 8th DAY OF JUNE, 1982, DECLARING THE RESULTS

RESOLUTION NO. 6898
THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a Regular Municipal Election was held and conducted
in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of
California, on Tuesday, the 8th*day of June, 1982, as required
by law; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution Nos. 6789 and 6790, said
election was consolidated with the Statewide Direct Primary
Election held on said date; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly
given in time, form and matter as provided by law, that voting
precincts were properly established, that election officers were
appointed,.and that in all respects said election was held and
conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and
the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as
required by the provisions of the Elections' Code of the State
of California for the holding of elections in cities; and
WHEREAS, City Council Resolution No. 6790, adopted on thfe
16th day of February, authorized the Board of Supervisors of the
County of San Diego to canvass the returns, of said election; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Elections' Code said canvass has
been completed by the Registrar of Voters, who has conducted the
official canvass and has provided a certificate with the results
of the final official canvass, said certificate is attached and
made a part hereof as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

California, does resolve as follows:
1. That the ajbove recitations are true and correct.
2. That said Regular Municipal Election was held for the
purpose of electing the following officers of said City as re-
quired by the laws relating to cities in the State of
California, to wit:
One Mayor of the City of Carlsbad for the full term of four
. . . . ....3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City was
'10,823.
4. That the names of persons voted for at said election
..for Mayor of said City are as follows:

5. That the names of persons voted for at said

6 8. That the number of votes given at each precinct to each
7 of such persons above named for the respective offices for which
8 said persons were candidates were as listed on Exhibit "B" on
9 file with the City Clerk.
10 9. The City Council does declare and determine that:
11 MARY H. CASLER was elected as Mayor of said City for the
full term of four years; and
12 RICHARD J. CHICK was elected as Member of the City Council
13 of said City for the full term of four years; and
14 ALETHA L. RAUTENKRANZ was elec.ted as City Clerk of said City
for the full term of four ye-ars; and -

FRANK C. RICE was elected as City Treasurer of said City
15 for the full term of four years.
17 10. That the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to
18 each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed
1Q and duly authenticated'; that the City Clerk shall also administer
20 to each person elected, the Oath of Office prescribed in the
21 State Constitution of the State of California and shall have
22 them subscribe thereto and file the same in the City Clerk's
23 Office. Whereupon, each and all of said persons so elected
24 shall be inducted into the respective office to which they have
25 been elected.

11. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this resolution; shall,enter the same in the file of
Original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the
4 proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of

the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
6 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
7 of Carlsbad.at a regular meeting held the 15th day of June,
1982, by the following vote, to wit:
