RECOMMENDED ACTION:

ITEM EXPLANATION:
An application has been received from the officers of Encinitas Yellow Cab
to operate a taxi service in the City of Carlsbad.

This application is the result of a change in ownership of Enchitas Yell0
and does not constitute an addition to the number of companies operating i
Carlsbad. Since the requested certificate of convenience and necessity is
basically the renewal of an existing certificate, no public hearing is
required.
The fares proposed by Encinitas Yellow Cab are as follows:

At the present time the city is served by three companies. Since there is
limitation on the number of companies that may serve the city, applicatior
are accepted and processed upon request.
Certificates issued to the other companies have been established so all
expire on April 21, 1984. The certificate for this application has been
prepared so that it, too, will expire on April 21, 1984; so all renewals
the same time.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The approval of an additional has very little fiscal impact on the city.
The license fees assessed €or taxicab licenses will only generate $25.00
per taxicab.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CODNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSRAD ,- CALIFORNIA, DETER-MINING THAT THE
PUBLIC INTEREST, CONVENIENCE, AND NECESSITY
REQUIRE THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE TO
ENCINITAS YELLOW CAB TO OPERATE THREE
TAXICABS IN THE CITY OF CARLSBAD AND
ORDERING THE CITY CLERK TO ISSUE SAID
CERTIFICATE SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS. - --
WHEREAS, Encinitas YellowVCab, in accord with Chapter 5
the Municipal Code has applied for a Certificate of conven;,
and Necessity to operate taxicab service within the City of
Csrlsbad; and;
WHEREAS, this application constitutes a request for nam
change under section 5.20.090 of the Carlsbad Municipal Cod
and;
WHEREAS, the City Council may grant certificate of
convenience and necessity to Encinitas Yellow Cab under se(
5.20.090 if such action is in the p'ublic interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
