RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Appbcant - Bill's Cab Co., Inc.
/ Adopt Resolution No. L7 y 0 5 declaring that the public interest, convenienc
and necessity require the issuance of a certificate to Bill's Cab Co., Inc
to operate three taxi cabs in the City cf Carlsbad and ordering the
City Clerk to issue said certificate subject to certain conditions.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
An application has been received from the officers of Bill's Cab Co., Inc.
to operate a taxi service in the City of Carlsbad.

At the present time the city is served by 3 companies. Since there is n
limitation on the number of companies that may serve the city, application
are accepted and processed upon request.
Certificates issued to the other companies have been established so all
expire on April 21, 1984. The certificate for this application has been
prepared so that it, too, will expire on April 2.1, 1984, so all renewals
for all taxi companies will be before the Council for consideration at
the same time.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The approval of an additional has very little fiscal impact on the city.
The license fees assessed for taxi cablicenseswill only generate $25.00 per taxicab. The fares above are competitive with other companies serving

A record check on officers of company and drivers revealed no criminal record and no extensive driving record through DMV. A list of drivers is attached. Photographs and fingerprints of the officers of the company we obtained and are attached. All drivers are also licensed through the County of San Diego.
The vehicles to be driven in Carlsbad were inspected by Utilities/Maintt and no mechanical defects were found. A report from Uti1 ities/Maintenanc will be forwarded to this department.
The Undersigned sees no policing problem with the acceptance of this application.

A RESOLUTION 'OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DETERMINING TBAT THE
PUBLIC INTEREST, CONVENIENCE, AND NECESSITY
REQUIRE THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE TO
BILL'S CAB COMPANY, INC. TO OPERATE THREE
TAXICABS IN THE CITY OF CARLSBAD AND
ORDERING THE CITY CLERK TO ISSUE SAID
CERTIFICATE SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS.
WHEREAS, Bill's Cab Company, Inc., in accord with Char
5.20 of the Municipal Code has applied for a Certificate c

(g) The City shall have the right to inspect all
vehicles at any time to insure they are mai'ntained in
operating condition.
(h) Applicant may only use the vehicles listed o
his application.

commencing service pursuant to this certificate.
(j) No taxi stands are permitted. .
4, That the City Clerk is hereby directed to issue a
