ITEM EXPLANATION
On July 13, 1982 at 4:OO P.M., the bids were opened for
streetscape improvements, Contract,No. 1094. T. B. Penick and
Sons were the low bidder for the work of choice (Alt. 1 with
Alt. A) in the amount of $120,265.42. They were also the low
bidder for the alternative mid-block crossing and median islands
(Alt. 2) for the work of choice (Alt. B) in the additional
amount of $61,329.20. The Housing and Redevelopment Advisory
Committee recommends this added alternative.
The Council has final decision on implementing Alt. 2. Bid
results and explanations of alternatives are attached as Exhibit
B.
FISCAL IMPACT
Housing and Redevelopment has indicated that sufficient funds
are available for this project in Account No. 15-33-50-3702.
Funds are all part of prior years' Federal Community Development
Block Grant allocation.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CAIUSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING
BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
CONTRACT NO. 1094 FOR STREETSCAPE
IMPROVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for streetscape
improvements to Madison and Roosevelt, contract no. 1094; and
WHEREAS, the low bid for the work of choice was submitted by T.B. Penick
and Sons in the amount of $181,594.62; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in account no. 15-33-50-3702 for the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $181,594.62 by T.B. Penick and Sons for the work of choice
for streetscape improvements, contract no. 1094, is hereby accepted and the
Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract therefore.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
at a regular meeting held on the
