RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. adopting City of Carlsbad Standard Drawings and Specifications for rec acme water. ITEM EXPLANATION: As a step toward implementation of the City's policy to utilize waste water, Standard Drawings and Specifications must be approved for the construction of any reclaimed water system. These Standard Drawings and Specifications are based on established reclaimed water agencies standards, and modified to meet the approval of the City of Carlsbad Utilities Director. FISCAL IMPACT: Cost of reproducing such Standards and Specifications is recovered by over -the counter sales of them. EXHIBIT: A. All references to measurement and payment in Part 3 of the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction are deleted. (6/82) j�) PART 1 CONSTRUCTTON MATERIALS FOR RECLAIMED WATER SERVICE SECTION 207 - PIPE 207-7 Asbestos Cement Pressure Pipe All offsite reclaimed water Asbestos Cement Pressure Pipe 4" or greater shall be as specified herein. 207-7.1 General In second paragraph replace "Class 150" with "Class 200". *207-7.4 Special Construction Considerations Special construction requirements shall be incorporatted into the asbestos cement reclaimed water piping as shown on City Standard Drawing RW-15 whenever basic separation between reclaimed and potable waterlines cannot be maintained. 207-17 Plastic Water Mains 207-17.2.3 PVC Pipe Less Than 4 Inches The rigid unplasticized compound from which the PVC pipe, fittings and appurtenances shall conform to ASTM D1784, Class PVC 12454- B for polyvinyl chloride. Pipe PVC pipe shall be Schedule 80 and shall conform to ASTM D1785; PVC 1120. Fittings PVC fittings shall conform to the requirements of. ASTM 2467 for socket type. Flanges shall be 150-pound, flat -face, socket - type unless otherwise shown. The outside diameter and drilling of flanges shall conform to ANSI B16.5, Class 150. * Added Sections (6/82) Part 1-1 P c i r t 1 1 f � r S i i P t t t Flange Caskets Neoprene full -face gaskets 1/8-inch think of 45 to 60 durometer ("A" scale) hardness are required for flanged joints. Flange Bolting Bolts, washers, and nuts for making up flanged joints on PVC pipe shall be stainless steel Type 303 or 304. t Page 1-la �5 Solvent Primer Socket type connections shall be primed Primer furnished by the supplier of the PVC pipe and fittings. Solvent Cement Socket type connections shall only be joined by heavy duty solvent cement furnished by the supplier of the PVC pipe and fittings, and shall conform to ASTM D2564. *207-17.2.4 PVC Pipe 4 Inches and Greater All offsite reclaimed water PVC piping 4 inches and greater shall be as specified herein. A fiberglass composite pipe compound having an inner core of PVC overwrapped with continuous fiberglass and bonded with epoxy resin. The pipe shall have been tested by the manufacturer to a pressure of 350 psi or greater at 73°F and shall be of the bell and spigot type and shall have the same outside dimension as cast iron pipe to facilitate connections to standard mechanical joint fittings and shall provide for expansion and contraction at each joint. The Pipe shall be Permastran pipe as manufactured by Johns -Manville or approved equal. The p'pe shall be installed as per the pipe manufacturer and shall be painted along the top of the pipe as described herein. Cast iron mechanical joint (CIMJ) fittings blocks placed in shall be used and thrust accordance with Reclaimed Water Standard Drawings. CIMJ couplings shall be used for transition to 3" and smaller PVC pipe with special rubber gaskets as per the reinforced fiberglass pipe manufacturer. *Added Section (6/82) Part 1-2 *207-•17.4.5 Other P.ipe Materials for Distribution and Transmission Mains Because of special conditions, other types of pipe may be specified. Specificati..rts for pipe ma.4erial, other than those included in these specifications, will be prepared with the plans for the particular conditions requiring variations from these specifica- tions. *207-19 Service Clamps for Permastran Pipe The following service clamps are approved for use with Permastran pipe in accordance with the manufacturer's Installation Guide: APAC Style 1-107 and 1-108 Clow Style 3407 and 3408 Ford Style 101S, 101N, 202S and 202N Rockwell Style 238 and 239 Cascade Style CS1 and CS2 Two (2) inch service clamps shall only be r usod on 12" permastran pipe.
