CITY AITYm- CITY MG~ RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. b9 6 1 amending the Management Compensation Plan for 1982-83 to include the revision in the insurance program. ITEM EXPLANATION: The City Council adopted the Management Compensation Plan (MCP) for management personnel on June 29, 1982. The Council approved a revised employee insurance program on July 20, 1982. The MCP needs to be amended to incorporate the changes made in the insurance program. The following changes are recommended: 1. Management personnel will receive city paid life insurance equal to twice their annual salary. 2. The City and management employees will share the cost of medical, dental and vision insurance premiums as follows: Class Total Premium City Pays Employee Pays Employee Only $49.93 $49.93 0 Employee + 1 Dependent $112.77 $100.00 $12.77 Employee + 2 Dependents $177.27 $150 .OO $27.27 In addition, it is recommended that the management salary schedule be amended by the deletion of the positions of police captain and lieutenant. FISCAL IMPACT: The present benefit payment program of $115 a month would be discontinued and replaced by the new cost sharing approach. The existing program costs the city $55,200 annually. The revised program would cost $55,797 annually. EXHIBITS: Resolution No. (pC)6 I . i 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 RESOLUTION NO. 6961 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING IESOLUTION 6231, BY THE AMENDMENT OF THE MANAGEMENT COMPENSATION PLAN FOR CERTAIN MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL FOR THE 1982-83 FISCAL YEAR WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a management compensa- tion plan for management personnel, and WJ3EREAS, the City Council has approved a revised employee insurance plan for city employees, and WHEREAS, the approved management compensation plan needs to be amended to include the revisions to the employee insurance program, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the Management Compensation Plan is amended to read as follows: "I1 SCHEDULE OF BENEFITS A, LIFE INSURANCE All manaqement personnel shall receive ~~- city paid life insurance in an amount eq;al to twice their annual salary. That the management salary schedule is hereby amended by the deletion of the positions of police captain and lieutenant. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the day of City Council of the City of Carlsbad on the 3rd August , 1982, by the following vote to wit: AYES : Council Members Casler,,.
