HD: CITY ATTYV VD CITY MGR. S Q-- Approve Resolution No. & VO appropriating Community Development block grant funds for the projects listed. ITEM EXPLANATION: The City has approved several Community Developments Block Grant (CDBG) projects over the past few years. These projects have been received by Council, and staff has been directed to proceed on all projects as quickly as possible. In these Council actions the projects were approved in concept and funding was recognized as being CDBG monies, however, no formal appropriation of these funds was ever made. This resolution formally appropriates CDBG funds for previously approved CDBG projects. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds Available 3rd year $ 79,189 4th year 43,000 5th year 137,253 6th year 153,372 7th year 115,847 8th year 197,122 Total Funds $725,783 Projects Commercial Rehab. $ 55,000 Residential Rehab. 79,189 Mad./Roosevelt St.scape 207,635 Tyler Sidewalks 93,847 State & GranU St.scape 153,372 Jefferson Athletic Field 96,740 Alley Improvements 40,000 Total Projects 725,783 All project costs are to be borne by the CDBG funds. There will be no city funds involved in these projects. Administrative costs will be covered by CDBG funds. There are no ongoing costs associated with the rehab. projects. Sidewalk and alley projects will have minimal future maintenance costs. The athletic field projects will have ongoing maintenance costs of about $15,000 per year which may be charged against the redevelopment project area. The streetscape projects will require maintenance, however, precise cost: estimates are not available. The Parks and Recreation Director has recommended the formation of a maintenance district to finance these costs. RESOLUTION NO. 6980 A RESOLUTION OF TIIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD APPROPRIATION COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR 1982-83 TO SPECIFIC CAPITAL PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the City received grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Community Development block grant program, and WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $725,783 have previously been approved for the City of Carlsbad projects, and WHEREAS, the City Council has approved various projects within the block grant target area for. funding.
