PER TITLE: POLICE EMPLOYEE SALARY SCHEDULE FISCAL YEAR 1982-1983 I RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. b9Ff . CITY All'Y & DEPT. HD. CITY MGR. ITEM EXPLANATION: The city and representatives of the Carlsbad Police Officers' Association failed to reach agreement regarding salary and other terms and conditions of employment for Fiscal Year 1982-83. The resulting impasse was resolved by the City Council under the authority of Section 2.48.130 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code by the adoption of Resolution No. 6983, directing salary increase for communication personnel of seven percent The implementing resolution is attached. (7%). ?ISCAL IMPACT: The fiscal impact for FY1982-83 will be an additional cost of approximately $16,500. ZXHIBIT: I. CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING WHEREAS, representatives of the city and the Carlsbad Police Officers' Association have failed to reach agreement concerning the salary and cther terms and conditions of em- ployment for Fiscal Year 1982-1983; and WHEREAS, such failure to reach agreement has resulted in an impasse and said impasse having been resolved by the City Councj.1 under the authority of Section 3.48.130 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct: 2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager to implement immediately the provisions of the salary plan for police employees of the city for Fiscal Year 1982-1983 as shown on Exhibit A, attached hereto. SUPR. 42 - SERGEANT 1 '* -* .,' .. -9 POLICE DEPARTM3NT SALARY SCHEDULE AUGUST 1, 1982 THRU JUNE 30, 1982 ' BI/WEEKLY The bi-weekly salary range for the positions of POLICE CAPTAIN and POLICE LIEUTENANT are established and administered as follows: POLICE CAPTAIN 1131-1376 POLICE LIEUTENANT 1017-1236. The City Manager shall have authority to determine the salary for each employee within the salary range established for each position. The salary level within the salary range shall be reviewed annually on the employee's anniversary date. Salary adjustments shall be made at the discre- tion of the City Manager subject to any limi- tation or controls i.mposed by the City Council. During the 1982-83 fiscal year, no employee shall receive a salary increase in excess of seven ' percent except for merit increase on anniversary dates.
