RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Counci 1 adopt Resol uti on No. k /r ! approving the application for Funds under the Roberti Z' Berg Open Space and Recreation Block Grant.

ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Parks and Recreation Department applied for funding from the Roberti Z
Block Grant in the amount of $4,180. The City must provide a local match 25% which equals $1,393.
This is a "block grant" which means that the revenue is available to citit per capita basis to agencies in urbanized areas.
The usual procedure for grant applications is for the Parks and Recreatiol Commission to recommend several projects. Unfortunately, this was not PO:
the grant may be frozen by the State legislature. The proposal had to be submitted by August 1 , 1982.

The 1982/83 Budget Bill has been signed by the Governor. $5 million was
priated for the Roberti-Z‘berg Program,
The alloation for your jursdiction is $ 4.~180 . . There is a dist
possibility that the funds will sccn be frozen by the Legislature. If t
occurs all funds not encumbered by a signed contract will be lost. Ther to insure that you receive your grant funds, take the following steps ix
1. Complete an application form for each project including your
legal counsel’s signature. If you intend to submit only one project for the full munt, submit only one form.
2. Sign each of the enclosed agreenents. We will fill in the
grant amunt, project name and project number based on your application.
3, Send the signed application forms and agreements to my attentio
Again, please note the provisions on the agreement form. No funds will
disbursed until all application documents have ,been reviewed and approve
the State.
