CITY ATTYIL_.,L_ CITY MGR.ZL- RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. '% O f approving the re -tubing of the boiler in the Library, and authorizing the transfer of funds from the contingency reserve. ITEM EXPLANATION: On June 22, 1982 a water leak was discovered in the boiler. The service company (University Mechanical and Engineering) investigated and found that several tubes in the boiler were leaking. The two options available to restore the boiler to working order are to re -tube the existing boiler, or replace it. The leak did not occur until after the budget was passed, therefore funds were not allocated. The heating system is fifteen years old and this is the first major repair. Informal proposals for the re -tubing have been solicited. Upon approval by Council, the Purchasing Officer will utilize the open market procedure for the purchase and installation of replacement tubes. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are not available in the Library or Building Maintenance budgets. Request Council approval to transfer $7,500.00 from the contingency reserve to pay for re -tubing boiler. If this transfer is approved, contingency account balance will be $1,200,647. EXHIBITS: ---------- A.
