RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If Council desires, adopt Resolution No.
the establishment of a full service Health Maintenance Organiza-
tion hospital facility in the Tri-City area.
ITEM EXPLANATION;
City employees and members of the community have indicated an
interest in having a full service health maintenance organization
(HMO) in the Tri-City area.
The attached resolution encourages the establishment of such a
facility. The City and representatives of the employees' asso-
ciation are currently considering a recommendation to the City
Council on establishing an HMO program for the City. A recommen-
dation on such a program will be presented to the Council in the
near future .

RESOLUTION NO . 7041
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA ENCOURAGING THE LOCATION
OF AN HMO FACILITY IN THE TRI-CITY AREA
WHEREAS, some employees of the City of Carlsbad desire to
have a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in the Tri-City
area, and
7 WHEREAS, residents of the Carlsbad community also wish to

have this optional health care available;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California as follows:
11 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council encourages the location
of a full service HMO hospital facility in the Tri-City area so
that the resident citizens will have a choice of health care
concepts.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Carlsbad held the 19th day of
October , 1982, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Casler, Lewis and Chick
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Members Kulchin and Anear
