IlEM EXPLANATION: I . zr.@ DEPT~ CITY ~~~,1ifil ~g_ CITY MGR.-O-, authorizing In 1965, the City purchased a 1963 Allis Chalmers motor grader for $12,400. At the present time, approximately $10,000 is needed to put the grader in good working condition. Both the Street Superintendent and Equipment Maintenance Superintendent do not feel it is cost effective to repair the grader. It is recommended the unit be declared obsolete and be disposed of by sealed bids. The estimated value of the unit is between $5,000 and $7,500. There are no plans to replace the grader at this time, and when a grader is needed, the Street-Department will rent a unit from a local company. ·r,JSCAL IMPACT: The amount received from the sale of the motor grader will be deposited in the Central Garage furid. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined that . a motor grader can no longer be used and is obsolete; and WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the City of Carlsbad to dispose of this motor grader. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: l. That the above recitation is true and correct. 2. That the item listed in Exhibit 11 A11 be declared obsolete. 3. That the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to ·dispose of the item of obsolete equipment •.
