RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.722 I accepting bids,waiving any informalities
in the bidding process and awarding the contract for the Jefferson
School Ball Field Improvements - Project No. 3716 to FRITZ A.
NACHANT , INC.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On April 5, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Nod. 7173
authorizing the advertisement for bids for this project. Seven sealed bids were received by 4 P.M. April 29, 1983 as follows:

The engineer's estimate is $80,000. References have been
verified on the low bidder and found to be satisfactory.
The low bidder did not list the license numbers or percent of
bid for his subcontractors. The second low bidder, John C.
Ettlin, has protested this informality. minor technicality and the information will be required prior The omission is a
to the issuance of notice to proceed. Staff recomniends that Council waive this informality and award the contract to the
low bidder.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved
the low bidder which is required since Block Grant funds will be used for the project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted funds in the amount of $96,740 are available in account
number 15-18-90-3716.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT FOR
PROJECT NO. 3716, JEFFERSON SCHOOL BALL FIELD
IMPROVEMENTS -
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of, Carlsbad for
Project No. 3716, Jefferson School Ball Field Improvements: and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for this project was submitted
by FRITZ A. NACHANT, INC. in the amount of $72,220.50; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the amount of $96,740 in
sccount No. 15-18-90-3716 for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
Zity of Carlsbad as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. Any informalities in the bidding process are hereby
rJaived.
3. The bid of $72,220.50 by FRITZ A. NACHANT, INC. for
Project No. 3716, Jefferson School Ball Field Improvements is
iereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to execute a contract therefor.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
Df Carlsbad at a regular meeting held the 17th day of
