RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If the City Council wishes to amend the cardroom ordinance you
action is to introduce Ordinance No. 6pO 6>9 t Ordinance
and Ordinance No.NO.70 o
ITEM EXPLANATION
The City Council, at your regular meeting of June 21, 1983,
directed the City Attorney to prepare the documents amending
Chapter 5.12 to permit the game Panquinque, to raise the table
stakes limit to twenty dollars, and to increase the license fee.
Those documents are attached.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER
5.12 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 5.12.070(2) TO REVISE THE
REGULATIONS FOR CARDROOMS TO PERMIT THE GAME
PANQUINQUE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 5, Chapter 5.12 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section
5.12.070(2) to read as follows:
"(2) No game except pinochle, low-ball draw poker, draw
poker, panquinque, without variation as defined by Hoyle, contract
or auction bridge, shall be played in any cardroom;"
EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective thirty
days after its adoption and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its
adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 5th day of July , 1983
and thereafter
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said City
Council held on the 2nd day of August , 1983 by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Meitbers Casler, Kulchin and Prescott
NOES: Council Members Lewis and Chick
ABSENT: None

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER
5.12 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 5.12.100 TO RAISE THE
TABLE STAKES LIMIT TO TWENTY DOLLARS.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 5, Chapter 5.12 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 5.12.100
to read as follows:
"5.12.100 Limit on table stakes. No player shall be
permitted to make any bet in excess of $20.00 or bet more than
$100.00 in any one hand and shall in any event, be limited to
betting the amount of money then on the table belonging to the
player."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective thirty
days after its adoption and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its
adoption.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER
5.12 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 5.12.150 TO INCREASE THE
LICENSE FEE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 5, Chapter 5.12 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 5.12.150 to
replace the word "fifteen" with the word "thirty" wherever it
appears in that section.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective thirty
days after its adoption and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its
adoption.
