RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Authorize the Fire Marshal to travel to the National Fire Academy in Emmittsburg,
Maryland to attend a two -week course on use of computers for fire serva-,-e management.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The course being offered is a two -week course in the use of micro -computers for
fire service management. The National Fire Academy, located in Maryland, is
structured to provide training and instruction to .fire agencies, both large and
small, throughout the United States. This particular course is unique in that it
is the only computer course built around the needs of the fire service.
FISCAL BIPACT:
The net cost to the city is $132 for the two weeks. This covers the cost of meals.
Rooms are provided at no charge and air fare, approximately $400, is fully
refunded by the Federal Government.
This course was planned for in this fiscal. year. The funds are included as a part
of the Personnel Department training budget.
