JF CARLSBAD - AGENDlr !ILL TITLE POLICE EMPLOYEE SALARY SCHEDULE I Fiscal Year 1983-1984 I RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 7 3-53 ITEM EXPLANATION: DEPT. HD. CITY AlN- CITY MGR. A The city and representatives of the Carlsbad Police Officers' Association failed to reach agreement regarding salary and other terms and conditions of employment for Fiscal Year 1983- 1984. The resulting impasse was resolved by the City Council under the authority of Section 2.48.130 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code by the adoption of Resolution No. 7349, directing certain compensation and other changes for represented employees. The increases change the comparative total compensation of Police Sergeant from last among county law enforcement agencies to third after January 1, 1984. Communications Operators I1 move to 3% above the average and Police Officers 1.2% above the average after their January 1, 1984 increase. FISCAL IMPACT: The fiscal impact for FY 1983-1984 will be an additional cost of approximately $175,904 EXHIBIT: 1. WHEREAS, representatives of the city and the Carlsbad Police Officers' Association have failed to reach agreement concerning the salary and other terms and conditions of employ- ment for Fiscal Year 1983-1984; and WHEREAS, such failure to reach agreement has resulted in an impasse and said impasse having been resolved by the City Council under the authority of Section 2.48.130 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct; 2.
