RECOMMENDED ACTION:
That Council Approve Resolution No. 736 2 awards for management employees.
appropriating $5,000 for merit
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City annually recognizes outstanding achievements by management personnel. This year the management award dinner will be held on October 13.
Objective F-2-2 of Council adopted goals, provides for developing a commendation program to recognize outstanding employee performance. believed that cash awards in addition to other recognition would provide more motivation to City management personnel.
If approved, the City Manager will select management personnel to receive cash awards.

Funds are available in contingency to appropriate $5,000 for awards. amount would be transferred to Personnel Account No. 01-15-10-2660.

A RESOLUTION OF "HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD AUI'HORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $5,000 FRCM
THE CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT TO THE PERSONNEL BUDGET TO FINANCE MERIT AWARDS.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a Merit Award
Program for Management Employees and
WHEREAS, this program was not included in the 1983-84 budget
adopted by the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the Council's Contingency Account has sufficient funds
to finance their program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad that $5,000 is hereby transferred from the Contingency
Account to the Personnel Department budget.

This transfer will reduce
