RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.,7,3?4 , which designates "Costa Real Municipal
Water District Standard Plans and Specifications for Construction
of Water Mains" as the construction standard for water facilities
in the City of Carlsbad.
ITEM EXPLANATION
On May 25, 1983, the City entered into an agreement with Costa Real
Municipal Water District, which represents a cooperative arrange-
ment aimed at avoiding duplication of services, pooling of
resources, and reducing overall costs.
The water systems included are the complete systems belonging to
each party and those that each party may hereafter construct. It
was considered advantageous to foster the cooperative use and
transfer of items of equipment and supplies to the extent
practical. In addition, for the purpose of uniformity, standards
of construction needed to be established to insure that water
systems installed in subdivisions are compatable and in conformance
with system standards.
The Costa Real Municipal Water District has preoared and adopted a
document entitled, "Standard Plans and Specif-;.,ations for
Construction of Water Mains, dated December, 1982. They have asked
that the City adopt these standards, also. Staff has reviewed the
document and finds nothing adverse to the City's interests.

RESOLUTION NO. 7386
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE STANDARD
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
WATER MAINS IN THE CITY OF CARLSBAD.
WHEREAS, the General Plan of the City of Carlsbad calls for the orderly
development of public water mains within the guidelines laid down in the
various elements of the General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the construction of public water mains in substantial
conformance with these General Plan guidelines requires the establishment
of certain developmental standards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad that the following is herein adopted as the City of Carlsbad
Standards, the document entitled Standard Plans and Specifications for
Construction of Water Mains as published and adopted by Costa Real
Municipal Water District, dated December, 1982, which is on file in the
Engineering Department.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad at a regular meeting held the 1st day of November 1983, by
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Manbers Casler, Lewis, Kulchin, Chick and Prescott
