RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No-JYLI rejecting all bids for Contract No. 3154
for the construction Of t e Carlsbad City Library - La Costa
Branch.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On October 6, 1983, Council authorized the advertisement for bids
for the construction of the Carlsbad City Library in La Costa.
Five (5) sealed bids were received on October 14, as follows:
I. E. F. Couvrette Co. Inc. $123,991
2. Profile Structures Inc. $145,380
3. J.L.M. Construction Inc, $148,424
4. Modulair $152,000
5. Deltec $179,700
The City Council at its November 1, 1983 meeting approved the
concept of leasing space in place of constructing a modular
building, per Agenda Bill No. 7379,
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's Estimate on this project was $120,000.
The leasing of space for this project is estimated at $90,000 for,
the next 5 years.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, REJECTING BIDS FOR
3 CONTRACT NO. 3154 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
4 THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY - LA COSTA BRANCH.
5 WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for
6 construction of the Carlsbad City Library - La Costa Branch,
7 Contract No. 3154; and
8 WHEREAS, the Council at their meeting of November 1, 1983,
9 approved the concept of leasing space in place of purchase and
10 construction of a modular building;
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
12 of Carlsbad as follows:
13 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
14 2. All the bids for the construction of the �^arlsbad City
15 Library - La Costa Branch, Contract No. 3154, are hereby rejected.
16 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
17 of Carlsbad at a regular meeting held the 6th day of December
18 1983, by the following vote, to wit:
19 AYES: Council Members Casler, Lewis, Kulchin, Prescott and Chick
20 NOES: None
21 ABSENT: None
