BETWEEN WALNUT AND ACACIA RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve Resolution No, 7"/6 2. authorizing the transfer of funds from the contingency reserve and authorizing the City Manager to approve a time and materials contract with Bear Excavating and Paving. ITEM EVALUATION: The bluffs on the west side of Carlsbad Boulevard have eroded and undercut city storm drains at Walnut and Acacia. Chestnut threatens two additional drains. The bluffs have cut back and threaten to undercut Carlsbad Boulevard at Walnut and, to a lesser degree, at Acacia. The work contemplated under this project is to replace the collapsed storm drains, to restore the stability of two additional drains and safeguard Carlsbad Boulevard by restoring the slopes at about 14 to 1 with decomposed granite and a riprap cover. The State Department of Parks and Recreation has given permission for access to perform this work. (Wojcik) participated in the field evaluation and concurs with the approach. Additionally, erosion at Sycamore and A City Engineer representative FISCAL IMPACT: Costs are estimated to be about $64,500. Funds are available in the contingency reserve (Fund 01-19-50-2499) in the amount of $381,503. This expenditure will reduce the reserve to $317,003. The State recoqnizes that it will be necessary to import fill material to fill the erosion voids and to stabilize the toe of the drain pipe installa- lion.
