EXTENSION OF COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR I EMPLOYMENT LIST
Adopt Resolution No. 7q9-3 extending the existing Communica-
tions Operator I Employment List.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Under the provisions of Rule VII, Section 2, of the Personnel
Rules an open employment list may only remain in effect for
a period of one year. Under most circumstances at the end
of that period potential candidates have usually found other employment and the list is not a viable source of employees.
In the case of the current Communications Operator I Employ- ment List, our experience has shown this is not true. Therefore, the Police Chief and the Personnel Department request the City Council authorize the extension of the
Communications Operator I Employment List until December 3,
1984.
Council action extending this list would provide for a savings in time and money required to recruit, test, and develop an employment list which most likely over a period
of the next year will receive little, if any, use.
FISCAL IMPACT :
This action provides a negative fiscal impact in that delayed are costs to advertise, for testing, as well as clerical and
personnel analyst costs in accomplishing the administrative effort.

RESOLUTION NO. 7493
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE EXTENSION OF THE COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR I .
EMPLOYMENT LIST TO DECEMBER 3, 1984.
WHEREAS, City Council action is required to extend the use
of an employment list beyond a period of one year; and
WHEREAS, the present Communications Operator I Employment
List contains several viable candidates; and
WHEREAS, it is more economical and efficient at this time
to extend the existing list than to create a new one.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct,
2. That the existing Communications Operator I Employment
List be extended to December 3, 1984.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
City Council held on the 7th day of February , 1984, by
following vote, to wit:
