This property was dedicated to the City of Oceanside for the purpose of public access to the Lagoon environment as a condition of approval from the Coastal Commission on an adjoining residential development. The City of Oceanside has since placed the property under the care and maintenance of the Buena Vista Audubon Society. In order for the public to truly benefit from the property dedication, the Audubon Society, in agreement with the Department of Fish and Game, the Buena Vista Lagoon Foundation, and Buena Vista Lagoon.iJoint Powers Committee, have concluded that a Nature :-J Center would be the best use for, the site.
