RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.yS76 accepting bids and awarding Contract No.
3160 for the construction of the Traffic Signal at the intersection
of Alga Road and Alicante Road to McCain Construction Co., Inc.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On April 10, 1984, Council authorized the advertisement for bids for the construction of said project. Five (5) sealed bids were
received on April 26, 1984, as follows:
1. McCain Construction Co., Inc.
2. Steiny and Company Inc. 3. The L.E. Myers Co.
4. Select Electric
5. D & H Perry Inc.

References have been verified on the low bidder, McCain
Construction Co., Inc. Staff recommends the award of this contract
to McCain Construction Co., Inc. McCain Construction has constructed the traffic signals at Palomar Airport Road & Yarrow
and has done an excellent job.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Engineer's Estimate on this project was $67,600. Budgeted
funds in the amount of $80,000 are available in Account No. 32-18-
40-3160 for this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF CONTRACT NO. 3160 FOR CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS
AT ALGA ROAD AND ALICANTE ROAD.
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the constructioi
,f traffic signals at Alga Road and Alicante Road, Contract No. 3160; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for said traffic signals was submitted by
IcCain Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $46,132; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the amount of $80,000 in Account No. 32-18-
10-3160 for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad a
‘01 lows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $46,132 by McCain Construction Co., Inc. for Contract No.
j160 for construction of traffic signals at Alga Road and Alicante Road is hereby
iccepted, and the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a
:ontract thereafter.
