CITY MGR. 2f}--- RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. ?S8''{ , awarding the contract for radio maintenance to Quigley Communications, Inc. ITEM EXPLANATION: The City of Carlsbad has radio equipment in the Police, Fire, Building, Enpineering, Parks, Utility and Maintenance Departments. Each department includes the cost of radio maintenance in their operating budget. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was published and Request for Bids was made. Four responses were received, opened, witnessed and r-ecorded on April 4, 1984. The lowest responsive bid for radio maintenance for fiscal year 1984-85 was from Quigley Cor.munications, In~., 1933 S. Hi~l Street, Oceanside, CA 92054. FISCAL IMPACT: During fiscal year 1983-84 approximately $13,000 will be expended for radio main- tenance and repair costs. Of this amount $9,666 is for 161 pieces of radio equipment that are covered by a maintenance contract. The remainder will be for repairs that are not included in the contract. Next fiscal year there will be a slight reduction in the total contract price, due to a 10% decrease in unit costs. However, the number of units to be covered under the new contract will be increased from 161 to 187. In FY1984-85, it is estimated the total cost for the maintenance contract and repairs not covered under the contract will be $19,000.
