RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff reconmends Council adopt Resolution No. 70 9;;,, , awarding th& bid for truck
with utility box to Dixon Ford Inc.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The 1983-84 budget includes funds for the purchase of a truck with a utility box for
the Parks Department. Specifications were developed by the staff of the Parks and
Mechanical Maintenance Department.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice ·to Bidders was
published and Requests for Bids,were made. Four responses were received, opened,
witnessed and recorded on April 18, 1984.
The lqwestresponsive bid was submitted by Dixon Ford in the amount of $11,207, and
the second lowest was from Weseloh Chevrolet in the amount of $11,207.59. Even
though there was only $.59 separating t.he lowest bids, the specifications called for
a V-6 engine, which wi 11 meet the needs of the Parks Department and wil 1 be more
economical to operate. Dixon Ford bid the V-6 as specified, while Weseloh bid the
larger V-8 engine.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funds are available in the 1983-84-budget under Vehicle Maintenance Replacement
Account. The truck was on the list approved by touncil.

5 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as

7 1. That the bid of Dixon Ford Inc., 5555 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA
8 92008 is hereby accepted and the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
·9 contract for the purchase of a truck with utility box, in the amount of $11,879.42.
10 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad at
