RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. , recommending the appointment of
Ron Beckman to the San Diego County Flood Control Commission :
Zone I, representing Carlsbad.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Council previously determined it was appropriate for the City
to be the city representative to the San Diego County Flood C
Commission, Zone I, due to the technical nature of much of th
material. Since Ron Beckman is now the City Engineer for the
of Carlsbad, consideration needs to be given to his appointme
the city's representative.
The Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of S on matters relating to water and resource conservation and fl
problems. Zone I consists of South Carlsbad, Del Mar, Oceans
San Marcos, Escondido, Vista, a portion of San Diego City an?
unincorporated areas. Any city with any portion which falls
the zone is entitled to a representative. Therefore, the vac
will be filled by the Board of Supervisors, but the city is t
nominating authority.
The Commission holds regular monthly meetings at the San Marc
County Water District on the second Thursday of the month at
Commissioners receive compensation amounting to $10.00 for e;
meeting, not exceeding two meetings in any calendar month. r
also receive reimbursement for such actual expenses incurred
mileage.
The Board, in accordance with their policy A-74, asks that a
agencies take into consideration gender, age, ethnicity and 1
area of residence in addition to interest and abilities of nomine1
committee memberships are reflective of the county populatio

government .
The term expires October 5, 1984, and at that time council m
again make a recommendation on the appointment.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE APPOINTMENT OF A COMMISSIONER TO THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT FOR ZONE I.
WHEREAS, Carlsbad is the agency responsible for rec
