RECOMMENDED ACTION:
accepting Local Agency - State Agreement =% Adopt Resolution No.
No. 11-5308 consisting o $22,500 in Federal Grants through the
California Department of Transportation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The traffic signal at El Camino Real and Chestnut Avenue is to be
modified per the 1984-85 Capital Improvement Plan with a new controller.
By accepting these funds, the City also accepts the following responsibilities:
A. To maintain the physical condition and operation of the
improvements.
B. To advertise, award, and administer the projects and
obtain the State's concurrence prior to either award or
rejection of the contract. C. To limit payment of the Federal funds to the detail
estimate amount approved by the Federal Highway
Administration and to accept any increase in project costs as part of the Local Agency portion. D. To reaffirm the "Nondiscrimination Assurances'' contained in the City's Master Agreement for Federal-Aid Programs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Requires 10% matching funds totaling $2500. Local Agency (City Council) must execute the Program Supplement Agreement and return to the California Department of Transportation before June 15,
1984, in order to insure funding out of the Fiscal Year 1983-84
budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING LOCAL AGENCY -
STATE AGREEEMENT NO. 11-5308 FOR EL CAMINO REAL AND CHESTNUT AVENUE SIGNAL MODIFICATION GRANT.
WHEREAS, funds are available through a Local Agency - State
Agreement No. 11-5308 in the amount of $22,500; and
WHEREAS, City funds in the amount of $2,500 may be made
available in Fiscal Year 1984-85; and
WHEREAS, the City accepts the aforementioned responsibilities
as required by this Federal grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counc
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The Mayor is authorized to execute the Loca

Agency -
State Agreement No. 11-5308 in the amount of $22,500 with $2,500
in matching funds to be provided by the City in Fiscal Year
1984-85.
