HD.~ CITY ATTYA CITY M G R. - MTGm 9/18/84 IN CITY HALL DEPT. p & R PROJECT NO. 002-84 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 7771 approving plan and specifications, and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for replacement of the heating/air conditioning system in City Hall. It is further recommended to transfer $100,000 from the Nonappropriated General Fund to the Capital Outlay Account in Building Maintenance for pay for Project No. 002-84. ITEM EXPLANATION Plans and specifications for the City Hall heating and air conditioning units' replacement have been prepared and reviewed by the Building and P1 anni ng Director. Staff now recommends that the city advertise for bids for the replacement of the units. project. Approximately $100,000 will be required for the total FISCAL IMPACT On May 1, 1984, Council originally approved the necessary funds to complete the heating/air rehabilitation. not carry over the funds to the FY 84-85 budget. that $100,000 be provided from the Unappropriated General Fund and transferred to the Capital Outlay Account in Building Maintenance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 2. Plans and specifications are on file in the Parks and Recreation office. 3. ClTY ATTY CITY MGR, 9 AB#- TITLE: DEPT. p & R RECOMMENDED ACTION: City Courlcil approve the transfer of $75,000 from the the Continpency Fund to the account of Capital Equipment in Building Plaintenance to purchase a new heati ng/cool i ng sytem in the City Hal 1 Compl ex. ITEM EXPLANTATION: The 16-year old heating and air conditioning unit located in the civic center requires immediate rehabilitation. The existing unit is not designed to meet the floor space configuration, has been operating at maximum canacity for so long that its life expectancy has been shortened, and is close to completely breaking down. A consultant analyzed the problem and recommended that the entire system needs extensive renovation. unit with an economizer be installed. An alternative plan would be to install separate units for the north and 'south it is not the most cost-effective long range plan. It is estimated that the replacement of the existing system would cost between REPLACEMENT OF THE HEATING AND MTG. 5/1/84 AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM AT CITY HALL .- The study proposes that a new energy efficient air-mix - sections of City Hall * Staff does not recommend this two-unit concept because $100,000 - $110,000.
