Adopt Resolution No.% 7F approving contract documents and specifications and
authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for emergency maintenance.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In order to be appropriately prepared to effectively meet emergency situations,
staff recommends the procedure of having a signed contract for emergency maintenance.
The work to be done would be for the cleaning and maintenance of storm drains,
channels, slopes and bluffs and will consist of removal and disposal of spoil,
silt, vegetation and debris; cleaning of pipes and culverts; grading of channel
bottoms and side slopes; fill and compaction of eroded or washed out channels,
pumping and water control, earthen channel enlargement and shaping; miscellaneous
structure cleaning or repair; and miscellaneous grading, excavation, fill, earthwork
and reconstruction of same. This method of time and materials precontracting
will be advantageous in the event of an emergency. The City will have a contractor
readily available to provide needed services expeditiously. The contract should
be administered by the Utilities and Maintenance Director. Specific plans and
detailed special provisions for each emergency project will be developed at the
time of needs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact is not known at this time. Upon receipt of the proposals a
cost factor can be determined.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,. APPROVING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
AND SPECIFICATIONS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK
TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE
CONTRACT NO. U/M-3
WHEREAS, the contract documents and specifications for the furnishing of
all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and other expenses
necessary and incidental for Contract No. U/M-3 have been prepared and are on
file in the Utilities and Maintenance Department of the City of Carlsbad and
are incorporated by reference herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The contract documents and specifications as presented are hereby
approved.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and
directed to proceed to publish, in accordance with law, Notice Inviting Bids
for Emergency Maintenance in accordance with said contract documents and
specifications.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council held
