RECOMMENDED ACTION:
The Local Coastal Program Committee recommends that the
review period for the Batiquitos Lagoon Management Plan be
extended to January 1, 1985.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On August 28, 1984 the City Council established a 60-day
review period to gather comments on the Batiquitos Lagoon
Management Plan. The responsibility for coordinating the
review process was given to the Local Coastal Program (LCP)
Committee.
Very few comments have been received up to this point
(four in all). Only one governmental agency has responded
(State Department of Parks & Recreation). With such few
responses it would be difficult to draw any legitimate
conclusions.
One request has been made by a major property owner, i.e.
Hunt Properties Incorporated, to extend the review period.
Given the circumstances, the LCP Committee considers an
extension necessary. In addition to providing more time
to receive input, the extension will allow the Committee
to initiate discussion with, key governmental agencies, such
as San Diego County and the State Department of Fish & Game.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. Any additional staff work will overlap the other
activities of the Committee.
