PER I ~ RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 77.9Yextending the existing Police Lieutenant Employment List. ITEM EXPLANATION: Under the provisions of Rule VII, Section 2, of the Personnel Rules, an open employment list may only remain in effect for a period of one year. Normally, at the end of a one year period potential candidates have found other employment rendering the list unusable. In the case of the current Police Lieutenant Employment List, our experience has shown that this is not true. of the Police Lieutenant Employment List, which expired on October 17, 1984, there are a number of viable candidates remaining. Polling the top five candidates resulted in a stated desire of all to reamin on the list. The Police Chief and Personnel Department, in concurrence, request the City Council authorize the extension of the Police Lieutenant Employment List until October 17, 1985. In the case Council action extending this list will provide for savings in both time and money required to complete recruiting and testing procedures. FISCAL IMPACT: A savings of approximately $2,000 comprised of advertising, testing, and manpower costs. EXHIBIT: Resolution No. 777rextending the present Police Lieutenant Employment List.
