RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends that Council adopt Resolution No. 781 9 , accepting bids and
awarding Contract No. U/M-2 for construction of a sanitary sewer line to
Viewland Construction Company; 9102 Harness Street, Spring Valley, CA 92077 in
the amount of $98,550.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On September 21, 1984, the City Council approved plans and specifications and
authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the construction of a
sanitary sewer line in Valley Street and Buena Vista Way.
Four responses were received, opened, witnessed and recorded on October 18,
1984. The bids were reviewed by the staff of the Utilities/Maintenance and
Purchasing Departments, and it was determined the low bidder, Bob Diment's
Backhoe Service had not sumbmitted a responsive bid. Mr. Diment failed to
complete his bid documents in a satisfactory manner and submitted a letter
requesting his bid be withdrawn.

The project is included in the 1984-85 Capital Improvement Budget, and the cost
of construction will be reimbursed as sewer connections are made. There is
approximately $2,500,000 in the Sewer Construction Fund and $98,555 should be
transferred from the Sewer Construction Fund to the project account, 450-820-18-
50-3176.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT U/M-2
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A SANITARY SEWER LIE IN
VALLEY STREET AND BUENA VISTA WAY AND APPROVING
THE NECESSARY FUND TRANSFER.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as follows:
1. That the bid from Viewland Construction Company, 9102 Harness Street,
spring Valley, CA 92077, is hereby accepted and the Mayor and the City Clerk
we hereby authorized to execute a contract for construction of a Sanitary Sewer
-ine in Valley Street and Buena Vista Way in the amount of $98,555.
