ITEM EXPLANATION The Registrar of Voters has canvassed the returns of the General Municipal Election held on November 6, 1984. The certificate showing the results of that canvass reflects the following: For Council Claude "Bud" Lewis Ann 3. Kulchin Mark V. Pettine Robert B. Prescott Anthony 3. Resolution No. Election held November 6, 1984. declaring the results of the General Municipal RESOLUTION NO. 7820 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF p CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 6th DAY * OF NOVEMBER, 1984, DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW. 4 WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted 5 in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of 6 California, on Tuesday, the 6th day of November, 1984, as 7 required by law; and 8 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution Nos . 7664, 7665 and 7666, 9 said election was consolidated with the Statewide Election held 10 on said date; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 7665, adopted on the 10th 12 day of Ouly, 1984, the City Council invoked the provisions of 13 Section 34906 of the Government Code which pertains to evenly 14 staggered terms for Council Members when the Mayor is an elected 15 position; and 16 WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given 17 in time, form and matter as provided by law, that voting 18 precincts were properly established, that election officers were 19 appointed, and that in all respects said election was held and 20 conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and 21 the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as 22 required by the provisions of the Elections' Code of the State of 23 California for the holding of elections in cities; and 24 WHEREAS, City Council Resolution No. 7666, adopted on the 25 10th day of 3uly, 1984, authorized the Board of Supervisors of 26 the County of San Diego to canvass the returns of said election; 27 and 28 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 WHEREAS, pursuant to the Election's Code said canvass has been completed by the Registrar of Voters, who has conducted the canvass, and has provided a certificate with the results of the canvass, said certificate is listed as Exhibit "A", on file with the City Clerk. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does resolve as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That said Regular Municipal Election was held for the purpose of electing the following officers of said City as required by the laws relating to cities in the State of California, to wit: Three Council Members to the City of Carlsbad. The-two receiving the highest number of votes to serve a full term of four (4) years and the one of the three receiving the least number of votes to serve a short term of two (2) years. 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City was 18,774. 4. That the names of persons voted for at said election for Member of the City Council of said City are as follows: Hugh "Vic" Vickery Dennis Watkins Oerry Rombotis Philip S. Rummerfield Frederick "Rick" Mayer Anthony 3. (Scotty) Skotnicki Ann 3. Kulchin Marylynn Brown-Bellman Robert B. Prescott Mark V. Pettine Claude "Bud" Lewis 5. The City Council does declare and determine that: Claude "Bud" Lewis was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for a full term of four years; and Ann 0. Kulchin was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for a full term of four years; and Mark V. Pettine was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for a short term of two years. 7. That the City Clerk shall make and deliver to each of the persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed and duly authenticated; that the City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected, the Oath of Office prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and file same in the City Clerk's Office whereupon each and all of said persons so elected shall be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. 8.
