RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.__lfd1-2_accepting bids, approving additional funds, and
awarding Contract No. 3159 for the Police fir.ing Range to Brenton Lee
Rhoados.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On January 22, 1985, Coun9il authorized the advertisement for bids for
said project. Three (3) sealed bids were received on February 20, 1985, as
follows:
1. Brenton Lee Rhoades
2. Brown, Pardee & Haney
3. Joseph A. Meehl's
$42,926.50
$48,950.00
$53,910.00
The Engineer's Estimate on this project was $29,000.00. References have
been verified on the low bidder, Brenton Lee Rhoades. Staff recommends the
award of this contract to Brenton Lee Rhoades.
FISCAL IMPACT
Budgeted funds in the amount of $40,000.00 are available in Police Firing
Range Account No. 330-1810-3159 for this project. An additional
s:.ippropriation of $10,000.00 is needed to cover the bid amount, staff time
and conlingencies. Transferring that $10,000.00 from the unappropriated
Capital Reserve Fund will leave $1,370,664.00 in that account.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
2 CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS, APPROVING ADDITIONAL
APPROPRIArIONS OF FUNDS, AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
3 CONTRACT NO. 3159 FOR THE POLICE FIRING RANGE.
4 WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the
5 Police Firing Range, Contract No. 3159; and
6 WHEREAS, the low bid received for the Police Firing Range was
7 submitted by Brenton Lee Rhoades, in the amount of $42,926.50; and
8 WHEREAS, funds are available in the Police Firing Range, Account
9 No. 330-1810-3159 for this project;
10 WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of $10,000.00 are required
ll for the project;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
13 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
14 1 • That the above recitcitfons are trt:e and correct.
15 2. The bid of $42,926.50 by Brenton !..3e Rhoades for Contract No.
16 3159 for the Police Firing Range is hereby accepted, and the Mayor and City
17 Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract thereafter.
18 3. The appropriation of additional funds in the amount of TEN
19 THOUSAND AND N0/100 DULLARS ($10,000.00) from Acc:ount No. 330-941 is
20 hereby authorized and approved.
