SENIOR CITIZEN CONCERNS
At a recent meeting with senior citizens, I was advised of their concern with the lack of a 4-way stop at Harding and Oak. Many seniors indicated that it was difficult to cross Harding due to the constant flow of traffic at that intersection. I was further advised that there had been several near accidents due to lack of a 4-way stop at that intersection.
I suggest that Council direct staff to investigate this matter in light of the needs of the seniors and at the same time, consider the painting of a crosswalk directly in front of the Harding Community Center.
It may be that our standard traffic surveys would not
ordinarily warrant 4-way stops or a crosswalk at these
locations, however, I believe that this matter should be
investigated with special attention given to the needs
of the seniors who traverse this intersection.
