RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. 3/87 removing the stop sign on the north leg of El Fuerte Street at Unicornio treet and replacing the yield sign on the
east leg to a stop sign.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Mr. Allen Spousta of 2818 Esturion Court requested a change in traffic
control. The Traffic Safety Commission in an action on October 1, 1984,
approved a staff recommendation to stop the west and north legs and yield the
east leg. However, after a presentation by Mr. Spousta at the Commission’s
meeting on February 4, 1985, the Commission recommended that the intersection be changed to an ordinary two-way stop for eastbound and westbound traffic on
Unicornio Street. The Commission was influenced by the fact that El Fuerte is
a secondary arterial on the City‘s Circulation Element of the General Plan,
and thus ultimately, all intersecting streets will stop for El Fuerte Street.
FISCAL IMPACT
Replacing the yield sign with a stop sign on the east leg and removing the
stop sign on the north leg of El Fuerte Street and Unicornio Street will cost
approx i mate1 y $150.00.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.28 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION
10.28.324 REMOVING THE STOP SIGN ON THE NORTH LEG OF EL
FUERTE STREET AT UNICORN10 STREET AND REPLACING THE YIELD
SIGN ON THE EAST LEG WITH A STOP SIGN.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains
as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.28 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code
amended by the amendment of Section 10.28.324 to read as follows:
"10.28.324 El Fuerte Street: Drivers shall stop where the follow

EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective immedi ately upon
passage. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad
Journal within fifteen days after its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held
on the 19*day of March , 1985, and thereafter
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 2nd day of April , 1985 by the following
vote, to wit:
