COUNCIL WORKSHOP ON WATER ISSUES
At a recent General Plan Review citizens' meeting, Barbara
Hallman raised the question as to whether our water supply
would be sufficient in the years ahead. My initial
discussions with staff indicate that not much is known by
our planners regarding this issue.
I suggest that we schedule a City Council workshop to address
this matter. Costa Real Municipal Water District has in-
dicated a willingness to participate. As this is a regional
issue, I also suggest that we invite all local water districts
as well as representatives from our neighboring cities to
participate.
Government is usually placed in the position of reacting to
crisis situations. We are not at a crisis stage regarding
the issue of water management, however, this may not always
be the case. We now have the opportunity to address this
matter with foresight and plan for the future. I certainly
hope the City Council will view this workshop as a positive
step in the planning process.
