TRAFFIC CONTROL AT
LA PORTALADA DRIVE AND MILAN0 COURT
DEPT. HD.L
CITY AlTYYa.
CITY MGR. *
~
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. 3 gy replacing the existing yield signs on
the west and east legs of La Portalada Drive and Milano Court with stop
signs.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Officer Richard Kates of the Police Department requested the change in traffic
control. The Traffic Safety Commission in an action on July 11, 1983,
approved a staff recommendation to install yield signs on the east and west
legs of the intersection. However, after the request by Officer Richard Kates
at the Commission’s meeting on March 4, 1985, the Commission recommended that
the intersection be changed to an ordinary two-way stop for eastbound and
westbound traffic on Milano Court. The Commission was influenced by the poor
sight distance on Milano Court.
FISCAL IMPACT
Replacing the yield signs with stop signs on the east and west leg of Milano
Court and La Portalada Drive will cost approximately $100.00.
