RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. 3/~I to revise the speed limit on
Camino Vida Roble between El Camino Real and Palomar Airport
Road to 40 miles per hour.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the April 1, 1985 meeting ~f the Traffic Safety Commission,
Staff presented a recommendation for lowering the speed limit
on Camino Vida Roble.
There have been three reported lnJury accidents at this
location in the past twelve months. This stretch of road is
winding with side streets and driveways entering onto it. A
traffic study, as required by the California Vehicle Code,
shows the appropriate ~peed limit to be 40 miles per hour.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Replacing the existing 45 mile per hour speed limit signs with
40 mile per hour speed limit signs will cost about $50.00.
Cost of enforcement of these speed limits is unchanged .

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.44.160 TO R£VISE THE
SPEED LIMIT ON CAMINO VIDA ROBLE BETWEEN EL
CAMINO REAL AND PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,
hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 10.44.160
to read as follows:
"10.44.160

13 EFFECT I VE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective

16 cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad Journal
17 within fifteen days after its adoption.
