Re: Carlsbad Safety Center
KCC Job #3225
Award of Contract, Bid Package #4
Dear Mike:
Approval to solicit bids for the referenced work was given by the City Council on
April 2, 1985. Work includes concrete, reinforcing steel, architectural precast,
masonry, miscellaneous metal, and steel doors and frames.
Numerous firms specializing in these activities were contacted by your Construction
Manager with a pre-bid conference being held on May 16, 1985, and bids received on
May 30, 1985-
We have analyzed the low bids and finding no major irregularities recommend that
an award for the following bid package items be made to:
Description
ItB Reinforcing Steel
4C Architectural Precast
4E Miscellaneous Metal
3<so4>- 4F Steel Doors and Frames
Contractor
Fontana Steel
Tecon Pacific
Tulsa Steel
Estrada Hardware
Amount
$ 97,910.00
438,500.00
141,850.00
60,560.00
We feel these awards represent a fair and reasonable price for the work intended.
Bid item kB and kE amounts reflect constructing the vehicle wash enclosure in
masonry in lieu of concrete tilt up.
We understand that an agenda bill will be prepared for City Council approval of
these awards on June 11, 1985. Please let me know if additional information is
required or if there are any problems with this recommendation.
