Adopt Resolution No.7327 accepting bids and awarding Contract
~ Nos. 3148 and 3149 for the construction of two traffic signals at
1 Palomar Airport Road and Yarrow, and El Camino Real and Camino Vida Roble to McCain Construction Co., Inc.
1 ITEM EXPLANATION:
On June 21, 1983, Council authorized the advertisement for bids ' for the construction of the two traffic signals. Five sealed bids
I were received on July 18, 1983, as follows:
McCain Construction Co., Inc. $ 95,063
D. & H. Perry, Inc. $104,433 Steiny and Company, Inc. $ 99,950
I Grisson & Johnson, Inc. $ 96,760
I Select Electric, Inc. $1 14,345
The Engineer's Estimate on this project was $140,000. References have been verified on the low bidder, McCain Construction Co., Inc. Previously McCain Construction Co, Inc. had the City contract for street light conversion and did an excellent job. Staff recommends
Some right-of-way dedication shall be acquired from the Developer prior to construction.
, the award of this contract to McCain Construction Co., Inc.
The construction cost will be borne entirely by the Developer and the County, Contract administration and inspection charges will be included. The Oeveloper of the Palomar Airport Business Park will forward $90,500 to the City within five days following Award of Contract. The County will forward $35,000 within thirty days after the Award of Contract. The Engineer's Estimate for this ' project is $140,000.

RESOLUTION NO. 7327 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE'CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NOS. 3148 AND 3149 FOR CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT PALOMAR AIRPORT
ROAD AND YARROW, AND EL CRMINO REAL AND CAMINO VIDA ROBLE.
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for
the construction of two traffic signals, Contract Nos. 3148 and
3149; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for this project was submitted
by McCain Construction Co., Inc. in-the amount of $95,063; and
WHEREAS, funds will be available in Account Nos. 30-18-40-
3148 and 30-18-40-3149 for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $95,063 by McCain Construction Co., Inc. for
Contract Nos. 3148 and 3149 for the construction of traffic
signals at Palomar Airport Road and Yarrow, and El Camino Real and
Camino Vida Roble is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk
are hereby authorized to execute a contract therefor.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad at a regular meeting held the 16th day of Awut 3
1983, by the following vote, to wit:
