Adopt Resolution No. gjs3 , amending agreement with Western Temporary
Services for School Crossing Guard Service.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In March, 1983, the City Council approved in concept a program for providing
school crossing guard service through a contractual agreement with a service
agency. Requests were made from three local temporary service agencies. Only
one bid was received from Western Temporary Services and on July 25, 1983, the
City of Carlsbad and Western Temporary Services entered into an agreement for
School Crossing Guard Service for the 1983-84 school year in the mount of
$9,828. The agreement provides for the contract to be renewed for one year
periods, and on August 21, 1984, the City of Carlsbad amended the Agreement with
Western Temporary Services for the 1984-85 school year. The amount of the
contract was $11,787.75.
In hne, 1985, Western Temporary Services requested their weekly rate be
crossing guards. Rased on a 39 week school year, the contract price will be
increased from $302.25 to $308.62. The increase represents a 2% raise for the
$12,036.18. Staff of the Police Department is satisfied with the service and
recommends continuance of the contract.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Police Department's Professional Services Account
(01-21-20-2470) to cover the cost of the contract.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSRAO,
TEWORARY SERVICES FOR SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD SERVICES.
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE AGREEMENT WITH WESTERN
WHEREAS, the City has contracted with Western Temporary Services for school
crossing guard service; and
WHEREAS, said agreement provides that charges for said services should
include a weekly rate of $302.25; and
WHEREAS, after negotiations, the parties to said contract have agreed that
said rate should be increased to $308.62 effective September 1985;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
as Tnllows:
1. That Section 2.b. of said agreement shall be deleted in its entirity.

agreement in the amount of $308.62 per week, for the 39 weeks of the school
year. In the event the school year is shortened or lengthened, the canpensatio
shall be prorated accordingly. In the event there is an increase in Workers'
Compensation, FICA, the compensation shall be increased accordingly.
