CITY ATTY CITY MGR. QUl>Occ D- OL O U O oo amending Contract No. 3006-1F to allow additional expenditures in the RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. _ with Sim 0. Harris Co. amount of $17,752.25. ITEM EXPLANATION Additional cost is for revised pavement sections at the Carlsbad Safety and Service Center based on field R-values of sub-grade after completion of grading operation. Faraday Avenue connector required the addition of eight (8") inches of Class II base making the final section fourteen (14") inches of Class II base and four (4") inches of asphalt. The rest of the streets required the addition of four (4") inches of Class II base making their final section ten (10") inches of Class II base and four (4") inches of asphalt. The original section for these streets as bid was six (6") inches of decomposed granite and four (4") inches of asphalt which was to collector standards. When the testing engineer checked the sub-base R-values, they were inadequate for the thinner section. Upon approval of the City Council, a change order will be issued in the amount of $17,752.25 for Contract No. 3006-1F with Sim 0. Harris Co. for the additional Class II base. The change order quantities and cost have been verified by the architect, construction manager and city staff. FISCAL IMPACT The added cost of current budget for available in Account EXHIBIT; 1. Resolution No. Sim 3. Harris amount of Co. $17,752.25. this change order has been included in the Phase I of the Safety Center. WHEREAS, additional expenditures .of $17,752.25 are required for the addition of required base for the construction of roads at the site to City standards; and WHEREAS, the Council has previously approved a contract for the construction of the streets and parking lots in the amount of $330,208.00 which did not include the added cost of base above; and WHEREAS, funds are available within the project budget in Account No. 300-820-1810-3006; and WHEREAS, this additional expenditure is necessary and justified per the Construction Manager; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2.
