Adopt Resolution No. f" 5/ , approving the Part Time Employee Salary
Schedule for 1985-86.
TITLE: PART TIME EMPLOYEE SALARY SCHEDULE
FOR 1985-86.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Approximately 123 part time employees work throughout the city and are employed
an estimated 72,117 hours per year. The total cost is approximately
$326,136 for an average of $4.52 per hour. Part time employees work less
than 1,000 hours per fiscal year and are not eligible for benefits. These
employees supplement the city's full time work force in accomplishing
their various duties.
Part time employees' salaries were last reviewed and adjusted in 1982.
Since that time the CPI has increased 18.76%. It is desirable to adjust
part time salaries to remain competitive in the labor market. Adjustments
shown range from a decreaseof 4% to an increase of 54%.
The attached part time salary schedule creates five steps within each
range for part time classifications. This format differs from the previous
schedule; however, the proposed plan more closely follows the scheme of
existing salary schedules and should be easier to use.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost to the Library is approximately $22,500. This sum will
need to be transferred from the contingency account to the Library
Personnel Services account. Cost increases for the Parks and Recreation
Department are included in the FY 1985-86 budget.

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE
- CITY OF CARISBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING A
SALARY SCHEWCE FOR PAF?!T TIME EMPLOYEES
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1985-86.
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad uses the services of several part time
employees; and
WHEREAS, the City Cuncil has determined to We adjustments in axpensation
for part time enployees;
Now, THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the salary schedules set out in Exhibit A, attached hereto and
made a part hereof, are hereby adopted as the salary schedule for part time
enployees, to be effective upon adoption.
3. That a contingency transfer in the amount of $22,500 is hereby
approved to the appropiate Library Department accounts.
