LIDS RECOMMENDED ACTION: s t Ga DEBT. HD., CITY ATTY Council adopt Resolution No. 3 authorizing the disposal of the surplus fire truck. I17M EXPLAD?ATION: In March 1978, the County of San Diego transferred to the City of Carlsbad a crash/fire trunk designed to fight gasoline fires. The unit is a 1968 Ford and has been housed at Fire Station 42 since it was accepted by the City. The estimated value of the unit is $4,000. Due to the age and the mechanical unreliability of the firefighting system on the crash/fire truck the Fire Chief and Fleet Maintenance Superintendent feel the unit is not adequate or safe for firefighting. The expense to repair and renovate the unit would not be cost effective. Therefore, it is rerorrmended the unit be declared obsolete and disposed of by the City Manager. No replacement unit is being requested at this time since first 'Line fire engines have been upgraded to provide the same type of capability in a safer and reliable manner. FISCAL IMPACT: The amount received from the sale of the truck will be deposited in Vehicle Replacement Fund. EXHIBITS: 1. Description of Obsolete Eauipment, Exhibit "A". 2.
